A jammed airsoft gun, and the 'handgun' that replaced it, for AirHard
The clip, credited to @doworktv, has viewers comparing the move to Battlefield 1 and quoting Sun Tzu.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 5,439,101 views a day, 532 times a normal first day on this channel (10,232).
When Airsodter’s Gun Stops Working…
A new Short on AirHard usually opens with something near ten thousand views on its first day. "When Airsodter's Gun Stops Working…" (the spelling is the channel's own) went past eight million in a little over a day.
The footage belongs to the airsoft creator @doworktv, whom the description credits. As with everything on AirHard, which recuts other players' field clips with its own editing, the setup sits in the title: a player's replica quits firing at the worst moment. What he does next is what everyone is talking about. Going by the most liked comments, he simply raised his bare hand as the weapon, and the audience ran with it. One popular joke turns the jam into a punning medical diagnosis. Another hands the hand gun a set of video game stats made mostly of confusion and emotional damage. The single most liked comment calls it a Battlefield 1 move, and someone else reached for The Art of War.
Between the jokes there is a real airsoft point. One viewer notes that players call out "bang" at close quarters so they do not have to fire a powerful replica at someone standing a few feet away, and says they had never seen it used quite like this. Many fields have a version of that rule, often called the bang or surrender rule. The comments came in about nine times faster than on a usual first day for the channel's Shorts.
The clip went up the same day as "When Airsofter Tries Hiding From Enemies…", the hiding-spot Short we wrote about here, and the two now sit side by side near nine million. The four Shorts that followed a day later all started strong, and "When Airsofter Attacks Enemy In His House…" has already passed a million. The channel has added about 14,000 subscribers in a week and now stands at 163,000.
