Bathurst Heads, untouched for three years, tests the All 4 Adventure crew

Episode 3 of Cape York Rediscovered sends Jase, Simon and Mitch down a track cyclones and floods had taken back, with special permission to go first.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Just under 400,000 subscribers follow Jase, Simon and Mitch around Australia's far north, and this week they got a job nobody else had been given: special permission to be the first crew to try the old track into Bathurst Heads.

It is the heart of Episode 3 of Cape York Rediscovered. The description sets it up plainly. For more than three years the route has been left alone while cyclones, floods and hard wet seasons washed sections away and let the bush grow back over it. The three of them head in not knowing what is left, with washouts and overgrown country between them and the coast. A teaser called "The Lost Road North" went up two days earlier to warm people up, but the full episode is the one doing the work, with close to 50,000 views in its first day.

The comment section reads like a garage. One viewer reckons the 200 is proving more capable than the 300, and the 80 more capable than both, which is fair given the 300's breakdown back in Episode 1 left Jase riding shotgun. Others spot an old Bedford cattle truck, and a few wonder about cutting a track while it is still wet. Several are simply glad to see all three of them in one video.

The earlier episodes are still being found, the pig-hunting, bog-winching second one most of all. The channel's overall pace was a little below its usual this week, with the subscriber count holding level, and among the off-road and motorsport channels around its size, Live The Dash and DirtFish had the busier weeks.
