Amanda the Jedi's Verity verdict: "a mess"

Her book-to-screen breakdown goes beyond the movie and novel to include Colleen Hoover's bonus chapter.

Why this story? The whole channel is running at 407,868 views a day, 6.5 times a normal day (62,435).

Even the bonus chapter gets its turn in Amanda the Jedi's Verity breakdown. In the description, Amanda says she has spent entirely too much brainpower on Colleen Hoover's thriller, and the scope of the upload makes clear why: she covers the movie, the book and that extra piece of the story.

"VERITY is a mess | Book and Movie Explained" has drawn more than 400,000 views since its October 9 release. Alongside it, Amanda's channel has had a day more than six times busier than usual. That rise is across her video library, rather than a view count for the Verity upload alone.

Hoover's novel puts a writer, Lowen Ashleigh, in the unsettling position of finishing another author's books while discovering a manuscript full of disturbing secrets. It gives a book-and-movie comparison more to untangle than casting or missing scenes.

The verdict also marks a tonal change from Amanda's preceding Camp Miasma review. She described Jane Schoenbrun's film as funny and tender; for Verity, the word she puts in the title is "mess."
