Invisible prisoners and laser-plowed fields on Battlestar Galactica

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Jailbreak and Cylon Ambush | Battlestar Galactica

How do Colonial warriors handle a holding cell? In "Jailbreak and Cylon Ambush | Battlestar Galactica," Troy and Dillon turn invisible and walk past the guards. Elsewhere, a boy discovers a cloaked Viper on Earth, while a patrol encounters an advanced Cylon craft in space.

That Galactica 1980 selection was the most watched of the official channel's six new uploads, reaching about 70,000 views. The comments offer their own affectionate archaeology: a memory of owning it on VHS, the childhood dream of finding a Viper in the garden, and recognition of Kent McCord on the other side of the bars. McCord, who plays Troy, was familiar to television audiences as police officer Jim Reed in Adam-12.

Earth's practical problems get another extraterrestrial solution in "High-Tech Nighttime Farming | Battlestar Galactica." Troy and Dillon use laser pistols to cut furrows, while the Super Scouts' gravity-defying leaps help scatter seeds. A separate upload gives Dr. Zee's computer simulation of a Cylon attack on Los Angeles a much less pastoral assignment.

The reimagined series also gets space, including the New Caprica resistance and a compilation of reunions and hopeful discoveries. But the channel's strongest current momentum belongs to the earlier turbocycle pursuit we covered here, which has now passed two million views.

Subscribers were unchanged over the week. Daily viewing is currently well below its usual pace, although the full week's viewing was the largest among the nearby TV channels, including BBC Playback and Psych Official. Within the new batch, Dr. Zee's simulated Los Angeles attack is currently drawing the most daily views.
