New-parent sleep, Cornell and marriage on the 'big head asian data dad' shelf
Brian Xu posted nothing new, and his three most recent essays, all under five weeks old, kept finding a few viewers each day.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
cornell (and other schools) know there’s a sexual assault problem
Brian Xu sums himself up in five words on his channel page: "big head asian data dad." No new upload went out, so his shelf was left to the three most recent videos, and each fits that description in its own way.
The one drawing the most views right now is eight days old: "cornell (and other schools) know there's a sexual assault problem." As its title says, it argues that universities are aware of the problem. Close behind is the dad part of the bio, "nobody told me about new parent sleep deprivation," a confession anyone who has ever paced a hallway at 3 a.m. will recognize. The third, "marriage is shockingly uncomplicated," is the oldest of the trio, a little over a month old, and the most watched of them, past 30,000 views.
Around it the channel held still. Subscribers stayed at 382,000, and daily views ran a bit below their usual level, about 36,000 for the seven days. Among the comedy channels nearest it in size, this was the calmest stretch. Cheap Noodle kept its enormous voiceover machine running, and Kai Lentit was well above his usual pace after his Teenage Engineering sketch.
A sleepless new father with nothing new posted is not exactly a mystery. The shelf he left behind, on campus safety, sleep and marriage, reads like a short diary of where his head has been this autumn.
