Poem to Anne | Upstart Crow | BritBox
What does a streaming service's YouTube channel post when it wants to remind people what is on the shelf? For BritBox, seven short clips across four series, and the one that traveled furthest was a Shakespeare joke.
"Poem to Anne" comes from Upstart Crow, Ben Elton's sitcom about William Shakespeare as a harried family man, with David Mitchell as Will. The description puts it plainly: the poem might need another draft or two. The tags also name Gemma Whelan, who plays Will's sharp-witted wife Anne Hathaway, and some viewers recognized her from Game of Thrones, where she was Yara Greyjoy. Others in the comments call the show one of their favorite British comedies, and one replied with a couplet of their own. The clip has passed 22,000 views, well ahead of everything else posted in the week.
The rest of the week was split between Agatha Christie's sleuthing couple in Tommy & Tuppence (Aunt Ada and her advice included), two clips from The Other Bennet Sister, a series that turns Pride and Prejudice toward the overlooked Mary, and a romantic moment from The Hardacres. The newest Bennet clip, "We've all been there 😬," is the freshest mover on the channel right now.
The channel as a whole ran exactly at its usual pace, close to 900,000 views over the week, with the subscriber count holding still. Among similar channels, Two and a Half Men and Heartland were the ones running busier than usual.
