The Assembly is BACK! | Season 2 Official Trailer
An interviewer tells Ashley Callingbull that he is blind, then asks her to describe what being beautiful looks like. It is the question at the center of the second-season trailer for The Assembly, the CBC series in which famous guests sit down with a collective of autistic and neurodivergent interviewers.
"Our rules are no subjects are out of bounds," one of them explains, and the preview keeps that promise. Sex lives and cosmetic procedures come up early. Then the questions turn to loneliness, worries, fantasies and childhood trauma. Hudson Williams, waiting for his turn, offers a two-word verdict: "The suspense."
Williams and Jay Baruchel speak openly about fearing they might fall apart, and about the friends and family who pull them back. Marie-Philip Poulin, the captain who has spent years delivering in Canada's biggest hockey games, is caught off guard ("Wow, you got me here") before the interviewers invite her to sing with them at the microphones. Callingbull calls it one of the best interviews of her life. Baruchel goes further: "This is as important as anything I've ever done."
The trailer shows four guests, but the description adds Lights and Zach Galifianakis to the season's lineup.
Williams is the name pulling people in. Most of the busiest comments are about him, and several viewers say they had never heard of the show before he turned up in it. Some point out that he played a hockey player in Heated Rivalry, and hockey fans are excited to see him beside Poulin. The comment section has been far busier than a usual CBC Short's. One commenter who appears to have taken part simply says it was a blast to come back.
The trailer passed 31,000 views in its first 13 hours, roughly thirty times the channel's usual first day for a Short.
