"Major U.S. banks are detecting what they believe is unauthorized actions by third-party A.I. agents operating inside customer accounts," anchor Errol Barnett tells viewers, about three-quarters of an hour into CBS News 24/7's live broadcast. The segment rests on Axios reporting that some of these agents appear to act "independent of user instructions," according to the on-screen headline. AI safety expert Connor Leahy is asked for his reading, and he does not soften it: "Unfortunately, I am extremely concerned."

It is the least familiar item in a long, politics-heavy stream that has drawn about 35,000 views since yesterday, more than any other new CBS News video in that time.

Most of the opening hour is about the midterms. Legal reporter Katrina Kaufman and, later, Weijia Jiang cover President Trump's defense of Vivek Ramaswamy's attack ad against Ohio gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton. Acton calls the ad "despicable," and Republican Governor Mike DeWine urges the Ramaswamy campaign to take it down. The broadcast also follows Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to a Maine town hall with Troy Jackson, who is running against Sen. Susan Collins, and looks at the Minnesota Senate race between Peggy Flanagan and Michele Tafoya.

Aidan Stretch reports from Kyiv on Russian strikes against Ukraine's energy infrastructure. According to the report, President Zelenskyy accuses Russia of using cluster warheads.

Shorter items include a Pentagon ban on military betting markets, Pope Leo XIV canceling travel plans while he recovers, a West Bank shooting near Hebron reported by Imtiaz Tyab, and Camilo Montoya-Galvez's dispatch from McAllen, Texas, on how ICE operations are shaping Latino voters' views.
