Pete Sandiford wants an apology over the Gogglebox crepes
A shopping story, a cupboard and a very pleased husband give Channel 4 an unusually fast-starting Short.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 40,338 views a day, 24 times a normal first day on this channel (1,690).
We've never seen Pete looking so smug #Gogglebox
The crepes weren't missing. Pete Sandiford had simply put the shopping away, and in this Gogglebox clip, he recounts that small domestic achievement with considerable satisfaction.
Channel 4's Short drew about 32,000 views in fifteen hours, well beyond the usual first-day audience for its Shorts. Titled "We've never seen Pete looking so smug #Gogglebox", it gets its comedy from a household misunderstanding rather than anything happening on the television.
Pete explains that he bought ink and crepes, then decided to put them straight in the cupboard. "I'll put them away. I'll save her a job," he recalls thinking.
According to his account, his wife Paige later came into the room convinced he'd forgotten the crepes and that she would have to go shopping herself. Paige doesn't appear in the clip; Pete supplies her side of the conversation in a high-pitched imitation while his sofa companion laughs.
His retelling arrives at the response he'd evidently enjoyed delivering: "Have a look in the cupboard, and then come back and apologise to me."
