Wainwright briefing names the four dead and rules out outside interference
A senior officer explains how uncommonly strong winds drove the fire toward the base's range administrative area, as military police and the RCMP investigate.

Casualties of fire at CFB Wainwright identified by military officials
"Unfortunately I can confirm four Canadian Armed Forces members are deceased and many other injured," the officer at the podium says, before reading the names and units of three privates and a sergeant who died in the fire at CFB Wainwright in Alberta.
The briefing, carried by CTV News, begins with what is still unknown. The cause of the fire is under active investigation, the officer says, and several training activities were underway in the area when it began. The Canadian Armed Forces say it broke out around 4 p.m. local time Saturday. Uncommonly strong winds then pushed it quickly toward the range administrative area before it was contained.
He also addresses reports of explosions: they did not come from oil and gas infrastructure or from any outside interference. The Canadian Forces National Investigation Service, a military police incident response team and RCMP investigators are now working the case.
The officer closes by thanking medical staff, first responders, STARS air ambulance crews and military aviation teams.
The clip passed 200,000 views within six hours. A second CTV News update, in which Alberta Premier Danielle Smith says 39 people were hospitalized and 19 are in critical condition, also drew far more viewers than the channel's Shorts usually reach. Later uploads followed the response from hospitals, from federal politicians and from King Charles III.
