Altai filmed at Yorkshire Wildlife Park after William Chapman's death
The Daily Express report shows the tiger after the park reopened and examines the barriers around its enclosure.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 134,262 views a day, 10 times a normal first day on this channel (13,054).
Tiger Altai spotted for the first time since the death of William Chapman at Wildlife Park 👀😲
Altai rests on a platform, then walks through the trees carrying meat in footage filmed after Yorkshire Wildlife Park reopened following William Chapman's death.
The Daily Express reporter returns to the enclosure where Chapman died after entering it. Filming from an elevated wooden walkway, he points out the wooden barrier, netting, drop and electrified wire separating visitors from the tiger's space. The report describes the route Chapman took toward the platform where Altai was sitting.
The new Short follows the channel's earlier report on someone climbing into the enclosure, as we reported here. This time, the footage centers on Altai and the reopened park, with visitors again walking along the viewing platform.
It has drawn roughly 114,000 views in its first 17 hours, already well beyond the channel's usual full-day audience for Shorts. The comments concentrate on the tiger's fate and whether an animal should be killed following a person's entry into its enclosure. Those responses are viewers' opinions, rather than an account of any decision by the park.
