Daniel Thrasher gives morning coffee a hostage situation

His only new upload casts him as both an orange-robed coffee drinker and the captive waiting for him to finish.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Daniel Thrasher takes a familiar morning warning remarkably literally in "average millennial": "Don't talk to me 'til I've had my coffee, right?" The other man in the room couldn't easily answer anyway. He's tied to a chair with extension cord, with duct tape over his mouth.

It's a staged sketch, with Thrasher playing both parts. The bathrobe-wearing coffee drinker demands patience, takes a sip, burns his tongue and decides this is somehow his captive's fault. The ordinary irritation is the joke, carried well past anything resembling an ordinary breakfast.

The Short reached roughly 250,000 views in its first ten hours and is the channel's most active video right now. Viewers are picking up on the orange robe, the tightly controlled expressions and the absurdity of applying coffee etiquette to someone who cannot speak.

There was just one new upload this week, but the older videos are contributing too. September's "i dare you to use these" remains particularly active, followed by the sponsored "When you accidentally write classics that already exist." That latter title returns to a familiar Thrasher premise: musical inspiration arriving with someone else's fingerprints already on it.

The subscriber audience grew over the week, putting the channel within easy reach of six million. Daily viewing is now nearly twice its usual level, although the week's total views were more modest than those of nearby sketch channels. Trevor Wallace and IBella both had especially substantial weeks. For Thrasher, the newest contribution is a tiny domestic nightmare, performed from both sides of the coffee cup.
