Dan Wootton questions Meghan's Nottingham greetings in archive footage
His fast-starting Short alleges racial preference in a greeting line, using Sky News footage and commentary from guest Lauren.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 193,718 views a day, 7 times a normal first day on this channel (27,478).
Meghan Markle accused of preferential treatment to people of colour in Nottingham in horror video
Hugs and handshakes are the focus of Dan Wootton's latest reading of Harry and Meghan's Nottingham appearance. His Short drew roughly 161,000 views in its first 16 hours, a substantially faster start than his usual short uploads.
Wootton says Meghan hugs ethnic minority people in the greeting line while shaking hands with white people. He then plays archive footage credited to Sky News showing the couple meeting people outside a community center. The allegation of preferential treatment is Wootton's interpretation of those greetings.
This follows his earlier Nottingham commentary, but shifts the emphasis from individual gestures to the contrast he draws between whom Meghan hugs and whom she greets with a handshake. The comment section has already drawn more than three times the channel's usual full-day number of comments for a Short.
Guest commentator Lauren argues that public appearances are carefully managed. "Nothing is done by accident when you're on the world stage," she says, before bringing seating arrangements at the Hubb Community Kitchen into her broader argument about Meghan's presentation of race.
