Ghosts that appear in salt, and skeleton fingers on strings, from EYR
The educational supplier, around since 1992, filled its October shelf with Halloween crafts: clay monsters, a straw-bone hand and a salt-painting trick.

EYR spent the week getting ready for Halloween, one small craft at a time. The channel belongs to Early Years Resources, a British supplier of classroom materials that says it has been "inspiring a love of learning since 1992," and its three new uploads all come straight from the craft table.
The two newest went up on the same day, and both sneak a bit of science into the spooky stuff. In one, children paint ghosts with a mix of salt and hot water (about two spoons of salt to one of water, the description says), then wait as the water evaporates and the ghosts appear in white crystals. In the other, a printed template, some cut straws, tape and string become a skeleton hand: pull the strings and the fingers bend, a neat way to show how tendons move bones. These two are now the quickest movers on the shelf, each with well over a hundred views in its first half day.
The week opened with clay monsters, made silly or scary with googly eyes, pipe cleaners and colored matchsticks. The description passes on a practical tip: the matchsticks double as pegs that hold the clay pieces together, or as a base for arms and horns.
From the summer, a balloon rocket on a string track is still drifting along, two months after launch.
Overall the channel ran a little above its usual daily pace, with about 40,000 views over the seven days and a subscriber count that held steady. It is the smallest channel in its group of children's learning channels. Rock 'N Learn and Kids Academy both ran ahead of their usual pace, while Handyman Hal and A for Adley Shorts were a touch slower than normal.
