Press to jump
- 1:21Logan's amnesia and a story involving Team X, Trask, Sentinels and Jean Grey supply the narrative jokes.
- 2:33The combat critique focuses on parrying, dodging, color-coded cues and Wolverine's regenerating health.
- 3:37Scent tracking, linear rooms, collectibles and quick-time events become examples of familiar big-budget game design.
- 4:40The closing assessment argues that Wolverine follows a standard AAA formula.
- 5:52Bailey reads selected viewer comments aloud after the parody credits.
The claws aren't the problem. In "Honest Game Trailers | Wolverine," it's the instructions surrounding them that give narrator Jon Bailey much of his material: color-coded combat cues, guided interactions and a scent trail that makes detective work rather literal.
The week's only upload drew roughly 148,000 views in its opening twelve hours. This is a satirical review and parody trailer of Insomniac's Wolverine, with Jean Grey, Sabretooth and Sunfire among the characters caught in its joke cast list. Bailey moves from Logan's amnesia-heavy story into parrying, dodging and regeneration, then spends a stretch inspecting the familiar furniture of big-budget games: collectibles, item boxes and quick-time events. "This game holds your hand through every interaction," he says.
The comments offer a small companion comedy. Viewers are remembering an Apocalypse line, noting Sunfire's brief appearance and connecting Jean Grey's look with Jesse Faden from Control. The customary requests for Bailey to read particular phrases are back, too, fittingly for a video that ends with selected viewer comments spoken aloud.
Wolverine is the channel's most active upload right now. Behind it, the Star Wars Zero Company parody continues to collect views, along with "Baldur's Gate 3: The Honest Interview," where Astarion actor Neil Newbon and Lae'zel actor Devora Wilde field a rather different kind of charisma check.
Subscriber totals held steady this week, and the channel's overall daily viewing is slightly below its usual pace. Digital Foundry is seeing above-usual daily viewing in the same gaming-commentary neighborhood; here, the fresh material is Logan discovering that indestructible claws don't exempt anyone from opening another item box.
