F.D Signifier posted nothing new over the past seven days, and his channel ran busier than usual anyway: about a quarter more views a day than normal, all of it from the back catalog.

That back catalog is not light viewing. "I'm Afraid of Tyler Perry," from early this year, runs close to three hours and has passed three million views. It opens with a chapter called "I Built a Table" and closes with "Tyler Perry Built a Table too...," bookends that frame Perry's rise as the story of a man who made his own seat in the industry, then ask what he served at it. In between come Perry's origin story and a long stretch on the films themselves, with Khadija Mbowe and Jouelzy among the voices joining in.

The video drawing the most daily views is older and heavier: "Charlie Kirk and the Conservative Death Cult," a feature-length essay on the culture wars and on the spectacle around Kirk's death, edited with his frequent collaborator Oni Spumoni. A summer essay on how conservatives profited from the war in Gaza, which carries interviews with Marc Lamont Hill and Mohammed El-Kurd, sits close behind.

Among political channels near his size, several are having loud weeks: Really American, Jesse Dollemore and Pod Save America are each running at more than twice their usual pace, while Breezy Politics is a little below its own. F.D Signifier's week is a quieter kind of busy, made entirely of essays people sit down with for hours.
