A 1939 Hammond Novachord, Zelda's Lullaby and GLASYS's new song 'Not Today'

Gil Assayas recorded his ten-day-old original live on a Nord Stage 4, and it now sits beside a rare museum synth and a Pokémon battle theme on his shelf.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Ten days ago, Gil Assayas put out something a little different from the video game covers his channel is known for: "GLASYS - Not Today," an original song he wrote, sang and played himself, recorded live on a Nord Stage 4. It is a song about putting off a hard look in the mirror, and its description notes that the Bandcamp version comes with more tracks than the streaming release.

No new uploads followed, so the channel spent the week with that song and two older favorites. One is "Zelda on a 1939 Synth," filmed at the Museum of Music Technology in Harleysville, Pennsylvania, on a Hammond Novachord, an instrument built between 1939 and 1942 and, as he puts it, one of the few working ones left. Its warm, old sound sent him straight to Zelda's Lullaby. The other is his live arrangement of Cynthia's battle theme from Pokémon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, with bass and percussion in the left hand and melody in the right: the finger-drumming technique he says he has spent over a decade developing. He made it for a Pianote video and is asking viewers whether he should finish the full version.

Views ran a bit below the channel's usual pace, and the subscriber count, about 326,000, held steady. Among the electronic music and producer channels nearest its size, it was a calm stretch; Servida Music had the livelier week, running at about twice its usual daily pace.
