Diego Poncelet's downhill skateboard record reaches 94 mph
The Spanish skateboarder returns to the Quebec road where the previous record was set, with a certificate waiting at the bottom.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 80,918 views a day, 11 times a normal first day on this channel (7,242).
Fastest Skateboard Speed Downhill w/ Red Bull | Guinness World Records
Diego Poncelet folds into an aerodynamic tuck, with a long stretch of pavement ahead and water visible in the distance. By the time he spreads his arms to slow down, he has set a world record on a skateboard.
Guinness World Records' new clip documents his fastest skateboard speed downhill in the standing category: roughly 94 mph. The attempt took place at Les Éboulements in Quebec in September, on the same road where the previous record was established nine years earlier.
The video is a partnership between Guinness World Records and Red Bull. It follows Poncelet from his push-off beneath an inflatable arch to the roadside moment when a companion reads out his speed. "No way bro!" Poncelet responds, before cheers, a hug and the presentation of his framed certificate.
The upload has drawn about 70,000 views in its opening hours, already far beyond the channel's usual full-day audience for Shorts. Comments are unusually busy too, with viewers asking for details of the board setup and wheels, and considering what a stray stone or branch could mean at that speed.
One detail keeps coming up in those responses: how stable the board looks beneath him. For all the attention on the speed, viewers also want a closer look at what carried him down the hill.
