Agnes's manners become a talking point in HBO Max's Gilded Age week

The season-four trailer arrives ahead of a November 1 premiere, alongside a Girls return announcement and a Lanterns finale discussion.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

HBO Max had the largest weekly view gain among its nearby TV and streaming peers, with Peacock also drawing a substantial audience and South Park Studios adding subscribers. The main attraction on HBO Max was neither a superhero nor a dragon: it was New York society, with its manners under strain.

"The Gilded Age Season 4 | Official Trailer | HBO Max" has drawn roughly 35 million views since Tuesday. Julian Fellowes' drama about old money and ambitious newcomers gives viewers plenty of relationships to worry over, but Christine Baranski's Agnes van Rhijn has become a particular talking point. Commenters keep returning to her departure from decorum, and to the prospect of seeing her outside her familiar living room. Others are watching for Peggy's happiness and progress for Larry and Marian.

A recap of the first three seasons followed the trailer, making this a useful catch-up week before the November premiere. The trailer is overwhelmingly the channel's busiest video right now, while daily viewing across HBO Max has more than doubled its usual pace. Subscribers grew modestly over the week.

There was more than period drama among the thirteen uploads. "Girls | Limited Run Announcement | HBO Max" announced five new episodes of Lena Dunham's series, with production beginning in 2027. A Kordell Stewart documentary trailer brought the former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback into the lineup, too.

Lanterns, the focus of our earlier coverage, moved from finale anticipation to a creators' debrief. Frankey and Coy sat down with Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof and Tom King to discuss John Stewart's new oath, Hal Jordan's past and the Manhunter revelations. That spoiler-filled podcast is the channel's next-busiest upload by daily views, a smaller, more conversational companion to The Gilded Age's big entrance.
