A silicone band comes off, a tiny tray slides out, and the earbud battery is accessible. In iFixit's most-watched new upload, Shahram Mokhtari makes a familiar electronics problem look refreshingly uncomplicated: replacing the part that wears out without destroying everything around it.
"Your Earbuds Don't Have to Be Disposable - Fairbuds 2" has reached roughly 361,000 views. The repair-parts and tools company's lead teardown tech goes beyond that removable battery, opening the stem, examining circuitry and using CT images to reveal components tucked around the driver. His distinction is useful: "Glue isn't the villain here, glue in the wrong place is."
The charging case opens with screws and clips, giving access to its own battery. Its USB-C port, however, is soldered to the board rather than independently replaceable. Mokhtari awards the earbuds full marks for repairability, with that reservation. The comments pick up both threads: viewers discuss how quickly the battery comes out, imagine carrying spares and question whether the charging port should cost the design a point.
Two uploads arrived this week. The other, "Apple Watch Series 12 Teardown!", was only about half a day old and had drawn around 9,000 views. Alongside those releases, the earlier "Apple Watch Series 12 & Ultra 4 Teardown: Inside the Changes" remains among the channel's most active videos, contrasting easier battery adhesive in the Series 12 with the Ultra's screen-first route inside.
Subscribers held steady, while daily views are running well below iFixit's usual pace. That slower backdrop hasn't stopped the Fairbuds teardown from becoming the week's clear focus: a battery replacement that leaves the earbuds ready to be put back together, not thrown away.

What viewers say
Never seen earbuds battery replacement that easy. Now that is fairness.
The fact that it took literally seconds to get to the battery is amazing!
@burnzy3210See it on YouTubeIt could be even more interesting if the case would have slots for spare battery, so you could just change the batteries in the earbuds, and continue listening to music, while the depleted batteries are charging in the case.

Huh. Seems easy and cheap enough to just carry around extra batteries for non stop battery life, like cameras used to.
@samtherat6See it on YouTube10/10 is very high for non modular USB C port
@2000vitalySee it on YouTubeI hope they make open ear air conduction headphones someday. I could never make myself use these things.
