Matt Walsh, a debate on youth gender care, and two near-identical Jeff Square Shorts
One version passed 200,000 views in 15 hours, while its twin, posted the same day with 'OBLITERATED' in the title, has barely been noticed.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 251,153 views a day, 12 times a normal first day on this channel (21,839).
Matt Walsh COOKED this lunatic. #debate #jeffsquare #shorts
Jeff Square posted the same clip twice on Thursday. Both versions show Matt Walsh, the Daily Wire commentator, arguing with a young woman, and both carry nearly the same title. One says Walsh "COOKED" her, the other that he "OBLITERATED" her. Only the first one took off. Fifteen hours after it went up it had about 200,000 views. The second had a little under 1,500.
The gap is hard to explain from the titles alone. The two differ by a single word, and nothing in either suggests why one ran and the other stalled.
The winning Short opened far ahead of the channel's usual start. A new Jeff Square Short typically ends its first day with around 20,000 views. Most of its comment section is about gender transition care for young people, with puberty blockers named again and again. Many viewers also pick apart the woman's closing remark, which several say undercuts her own point.
It fits the channel's pattern. Jeff Square describes himself as a proud Black conservative and a father, and his channel runs largely on short reaction clips of well-known conservative voices. The same morning, his Short about a mother, titled "HER CHILDREN ARE FORTUNATE," was also moving well ahead of his usual pace.

The numbers
The busier of the two Walsh clips, and a second strong Short beside it, lifted the whole channel above its usual daily views.
