KITT's Pursuit mode clears a red light, and a truck ends the chase
The official Knight Rider channel posted two Season 2 clips, one of them a fake Australian music video built to slip Michael into a band.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Pursuit and Crash | Knight Rider
A usual day on the official Knight Rider channel brings in somewhere around 80,000 views, spread across a long shelf of clips from the 1980s series. These seven days ran a little under that, with about 660,000 in all, and the subscriber count did not move.
The clip doing the work is "Pursuit and Crash | Knight Rider." Michael gets back behind the wheel, KITT switches into Pursuit mode and jumps clean over the traffic waiting at a red light, and the chase ends abruptly when the car he is following runs into a moving truck. It opened with more than 37,000 views on its first day and has passed 135,000.
The comments are a car show of their own. Viewers point out the Grand Prix and a Cutlass Ciera on the road, praise the Firebird Trans Am for looking a decade ahead of everything around it, and replay the jump around the one-minute mark as one of the series' most convincing Turbo Boosts. Others have spotted a continuity slip: a pickup that loses one box and then, a moment later, has none. And a few wonder how KITT, of all cars, missed that truck.
The second upload is quieter and odder. In "Crafting the Cover," Michael, Devon and April sit down at the Foundation to plan how Michael will take a musician's place, and KITT's technology produces a fake music video of him performing in Australia. A singing Michael Knight is less of a stretch than it sounds: David Hasselhoff was building a pop career in Europe while the show was still on the air.
Among the TV channels nearest its size, this was a slow stretch for KITT. Two and a Half Men and Young Sheldon carried the biggest weeks by far, and Heartland, opening its twentieth season, ran well past its usual pace.

The 1982 (F-Body) Pontiac Firebird Trans Am was so much ahead of its time with its futuristic looks that it made all the other cars from that same era look like metal boxes on wheels, lol! :D
