"Pessimism kills the party in power," John Anzalone tells Kait Borsay, giving Times Radio's most-watched new upload its central argument. The Democratic pollster sees economic dissatisfaction creating trouble for Republicans ahead of the U.S. midterms, including in states the party would ordinarily consider comfortable territory.
Borsay doesn't leave the polling assumptions untouched. She asks whether "shy" Republican voters could be slipping through the surveys. Anzalone's answer is blunt: "MAGA voters are not shy." He also points to voters who dislike both major parties as an important source of Democratic support, while stopping short of predicting a Senate landslide.
The interview drew about 36,000 views in its opening eight hours. Among Times Radio's 15 uploads this week, it also has the strongest current viewing momentum. The latest installment of The Trial of Russell Brand and an interview about France's planned troop deployment follow it on that measure.
That French discussion brings Renaissance MP Olga Givernet to John Pienaar's program. She argues that troops should deter violent protesters through their presence rather than use force. Elsewhere, Chrystia Freeland tells Hugo Rifkind about the contrast she experienced between Trump's private warmth and his public treatment of allies.
Across the channel, weekly views rose by roughly eight million, while the subscriber count stayed unchanged. Daily viewing is currently well below its usual pace, a distinction worth keeping alongside the substantial weekly total. TalkTV is also running below its usual daily viewing level; Times Now World is having a busier-than-usual spell.
For Times Radio, the polling interview supplies the week's clearest exchange: Borsay tests a familiar explanation for polling surprises, and Anzalone rejects it outright.
