A school, a well and 120 eggs a day: MrBeast's Ghana village passes 100 million
Built over several months to keep children in class rather than on cocoa farms, the village ends the video with a name of its own.
Why this story? The channel passed the 100,000,000 views mark.

"This field behind me, by the end of the video, will be a city," MrBeast says in the opening seconds of "I Built A City To Save Kids From Illegal Labor." What stands there by the closing minutes is a village, and it has a name: Abena Djakwa, as village leader Eric announces near the end.
The project, filmed in Ghana, one of the world's biggest cocoa growers, has now passed 100 million views after nearly four weeks online. That is slower going than the grocery-store eating challenge the channel posted two weeks later, which is already far ahead. But this is a different kind of MrBeast video: fewer stopwatches, more concrete.
It starts with a school. A teacher shows the cramped, flood-prone building the new multi-room schoolhouse will replace. The flooding turns out to have a cause outside the classroom, a narrow culvert between communities, which the crew swaps for wider pipes and a bridge. Then Eric supplies a list of what the village needs, and the site fills in: a freshwater well with solar pumps and raised tanks feeding household plumbing, a farm, fish tanks and a chicken coop that, one worker says, gives "one hundred twenty eggs a day."
Other creators lend a hand. Darius paints; Kat builds the coop with Morgan and Adam, who tells everyone he is fine and then explains, "No, I'm doing it for a good cause." A local boy, Alfred, sits down with MrBeast to design the playground, choosing swings and a merry-go-round.
The warmest handover goes to the teachers. Isaac receives the keys to a furnished, solar-powered home. "This is the best day in my life!" he says.
Two things are worth knowing before pressing play: the video carries a paid segment with the co-founders of Neuro Gum, and its closing appeal against child labor in cocoa also promotes Feastables, MrBeast's own chocolate company. The description credits a long list of partners, among them the Varkey Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, which is funding school meals for five years, and Global Energy Alliance, behind the solar power. It also owns up to the trees cut down for the build, with more to be planted through the Arbor Day Foundation.
A day before this upload, the channel posted "Can We Build an Entire Village?" Under the main video, a question keeps coming up in the comments: why was this only one video and not a whole series?
