Torres' undercover past returns in NCIS's "Sleeping Dogs"
Mike O'Malley plays his former handler as an identity Torres retired is used in a string of fictional murders.
Why this story? An unusual change in the channel.
Nick Torres thought he had left that version of himself behind. In the NCIS preview for "Sleeping Dogs," his retired undercover identity resurfaces in a string of murders, forcing him to reconnect with someone who knows that past: his old-school former handler, Walt Keller.
The preview, posted October 17, sets up Wilmer Valderrama's character working alongside Keller, played by Mike O'Malley. The episode is scheduled for October 20. Its hook is more personal than an unfamiliar suspect: Torres has to confront an identity he once inhabited himself.
It arrives as the official NCIS channel adds roughly five million views in a day. That is a channel-wide gain, not the audience for this preview, which has about 20,000 views. The channel's most-watched regular uploads include the September trailers for NCIS: New York and the original show's new season, though the daily increase cannot be pinned on a single upload.
Elsewhere in the new clips, the franchise is putting its agents' personal connections to work. LL Cool J's Sam Hanna draws on his upbringing to talk down a suspect in New York. Over on NCIS: Origins, Gibbs seeks an off-the-books favor from his friend Woody, while a companion cast discussion explores how loyalty to Woody complicates the team's case.
