Tom Banton's century hands the ECB a hundredfold first day

The highlights of the third one-day international against Sri Lanka are drawing views at roughly twice the pace the whole England cricket channel usually manages in a day.

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 2,783,382 views a day, 102 times a normal first day on this channel (27,307).

Brilliant Banton Century! | Highlights - England v Sri Lanka | 3rd Metro Bank ODI 2026

"Brilliant Banton Century! | Highlights - England v Sri Lanka | 3rd Metro Bank ODI 2026" is the England & Wales Cricket Board's official cut of the third one-day match of the series, built around Tom Banton's hundred. It went up on the channel the day before, and it has already passed a million views.

What makes it stand out is the speed. A new upload here usually opens at a modest pace. This one started about a hundred times faster than that. For a single highlights package, that is well beyond the channel's usual rhythm, since on its own it is outpacing the board's entire channel on a normal day.

The last story on this page was about a 'Thrilling Finish!' against the same opponents. This time a century did the drawing. Banton, the Somerset batter who has spent years in and out of England's white-ball sides, now has his name on the busiest upload of the series so far.
