PeachMonkey brings a ghost along for a GameStop return
A haunted-game sketch arrives as the channel adds nearly six million views in a day, far beyond its usual pace.
Why this story? The whole channel is running at 5,892,162 views a day, 69 times a normal day (85,729).
PeachMonkey's newest upload has an awkward customer-service situation: returning a haunted game means bringing the ghost back, too. The gaming-store parody, "When GameStop Sells You a Haunted Game", turns a protection plan into a joke about what a warranty cannot cover.
The sketch lands during a sharp channel-wide jump. PeachMonkey added nearly six million views in a day, compared with a usual daily gain below a hundred thousand. The haunted-game upload itself has about twenty thousand views so far, so it cannot explain that surge on its own.
It does, however, continue a very specific comedy thread. In "When Your Dad Calls Out GameStop", a collaboration with Rich Black Guy, an expensive checkout and a meager trade-in offer give Dad plenty to question. The new sketch adds something even harder to negotiate with than store credit.
Halloween gives the ghost a timely entrance, but PeachMonkey's joke stays rooted in an ordinary gamer grievance: buying a game is supposed to be the fun part, not the beginning of another problem.
