Letitia James, a Facebook post and the 'Cornell 7' case on Dave Rubin's panel
Dave Rubin, Jeffrey A. Tucker and James Lindsay take aim at Governor Kathy Hochul's choice of prosecutor, and the comments arrived about five times faster than usual.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 407,780 views a day, 5.9 times a normal first day on this channel (68,879).
Reporter Uses Dem’s Own Words to Humiliate Her in Front of the Media
Among the political commentary channels nearest its size, The Rubin Report is the one running furthest past its usual pace, with a day of views close to double its norm. Most of that lift traces back to a single clip.
It is titled "Reporter Uses Dem's Own Words to Humiliate Her in Front of the Media," and it comes from the latest Direct Message, the show's current-events panel. Rubin's guests are Jeffrey A. Tucker, president of the Brownstone Institute, and James Lindsay, founder of New Discourses. Their subject is a rape case at Cornell University in Ithaca that has become known as the "Cornell 7." As the description tells it, New York Governor Kathy Hochul used an executive order to put Attorney General Letitia James in charge of the case, after James had posted her conclusions about it on her Facebook page. Rubin's panel argues she did so without having looked at the facts.
The clip had passed 240,000 views ten hours after it went up. In that time it drew more than a thousand comments, about five times what a regular Rubin Report video usually collects in a whole first day. Most of the talk is about James and that Facebook post, and about whether any prosecutor should speak publicly before an investigation begins.
The full episode it was cut from also covers Marco Rubio and a Russian lab death, unrest in France and Elon Musk's USAID cuts. That episode, and the clips taken from it, are drawing far smaller crowds than the Cornell segment.
