Saturday Night Live adds 100,000 subscribers
Two uploads also passed a million views, alongside a Weekend Update featuring James Austin Johnson and Ashley Padilla.
Why this story? The channel is adding 100,003 subscribers a day, 67 times a normal day (1,500).
A mother whose babysitter canceled and a visit from "Mr. Wonderful" are among the characters on Saturday Night Live's channel as it registers an unusually large subscriber jump.
The channel added about 100,000 subscribers in a day, far beyond its usual daily gain. Views across the channel were also running above their usual pace, though the subscriber increase was the more striking change.
Among the recent uploads is "Weekend Update ft. James Austin Johnson and Ashley Padilla - SNL." Colin Jost and Michael Che handle the news, with Johnson appearing as Kevin O'Leary's "Mr. Wonderful" and Padilla playing the mother left without a babysitter. That puts a business-personality impersonation beside a more everyday domestic predicament.
Separately, "it's a tough call to make" and "they're upfront," both posted earlier in the week, each crossed a million views. No single upload clearly accounts for the subscriber jump.
