Saudi Arabia's Gulf Cup final, ten minutes long, carries SBS Sport's week

Messi's last match for Argentina and an ASEAN Cup final in Jakarta shared a fifteen-upload shelf with the Green Falcons' title.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

A final did it. SBS Sport's extended highlights of Saudi Arabia against the United Arab Emirates, the 2026 Arabian Gulf Cup decider played on Saudi soil, passed 370,000 views in three days. That pulled the Australian broadcaster's whole channel to several times its usual daily pace. As we reported here, the final came with two Saudi goals in two minutes and a UAE substitute shoving a linesman while bottles came down from the stands. Those short clips are still on the shelf, but the ten-minute cut is the one people want.

Its comment section reads like a map. Congratulations arrive from Algeria, Oman, Vietnam, Indonesia, Pakistan and a Brazilian who says he has backed Saudi Arabia since the 1994 World Cup. The most liked thread is about squads: viewers point out that the Saudis fielded an all-local eleven and argue over how many of the UAE side were born elsewhere. The Saudi goalkeeper gets plenty of praise too.

The rest of the fifteen uploads went around the world. "As it happened: Messi's final match for Argentina" is the second busiest of the week, a short farewell that the description says left no dry eye in the house. From Jakarta's Gelora Bung Karno Stadium came the FIFA ASEAN Cup final between Indonesia and Thailand, plus Malaysia and Vietnam in the bronze match.

About a thousand new subscribers arrived. Among the football channels nearest its size, GOAL's FanZone and The Athletic FC Podcast gathered more views this week, while Brentford's channel had a quieter one.
