Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

We Spent The Night At The Museum

Ranking famous dinosaurs is one way to spend an afternoon. Following it with "We Spent The Night At The Museum" gives Smosh Pit's week a pleasing field-trip shape.

The museum upload takes the channel to the Raymond M. Alf Museum of Paleontology at The Webb Schools, with Gabriel Santos, its director of education and a PBS Eons cohost, and collections manager Bailey Jørgensen named in the description. It drew nearly 460,000 views in its opening 11 hours and is currently the channel's busiest upload by daily views. Earlier, "Ranking Famous Dinosaurs" supplied the less academic-sounding question of which dinosaurs deserve top billing.

Across eight new uploads, though, the week's most watched was "Things Get Wild w/ Lisa Gilroy | Reading Reddit Stories", reaching about 2.7 million views. Gilroy joins Shayne Topp and Angela Giarratana for a lineup spanning an interrupting bride, an unwelcome anniversary gift and an update from the mattress guy. That last subject also gets its own wonderfully specific title: "Can mattress be a hobby?", another of the channel's strongest draws right now.

The comments find plenty to discuss beyond the Reddit dilemmas. Viewers keep returning to Shayne's chair-sized character bit and Lisa interpreting his request for comments as evidence that the iPad is voice-controlled. The furniture has apparently become part of the ensemble.

Smosh Pit added subscribers over the week, although today's channel-wide viewing is well below its usual daily pace. Among nearby comedy channels, LouisAyy and Tyler Vitelli had much larger weeks for audience growth. Here, the distinctive combination is smaller and stranger: paleontology on the upload shelf, mattress philosophy in the conversation.
