Cieszyn and Český Těšín: one town, two countries, for Steve and Alicja
A border-town day trip, with a one-star bus, a castle tower and a near lock-in at a brewery, was followed by a first try on e-bikes around Żywiec.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
One Town, Two Countries. Life On The Border Between Poland and Czechia...
Among the travel channels nearest its size, SteveMarsh had the second-biggest week, behind only Chris Howett, who is having a very large one. Two uploads did the work, both from the late-summer trip through southern Poland that Steve has been filming with Alicja.
The first went to Cieszyn, a town split by the Olza river into a Polish half and a Czech one, Český Těšín. The description sets out the plan: arrive by a bus it gives one star, explore, have a local lunch and "maybe sneak in a beer or two", then take the train across the border. The beer nearly ended the day early. The pair came close to being locked inside a brewery, and that is the moment the comments keep returning to, with old jokes about Scandinavians crossing borders for cheaper drink. Local viewers filled in the background: the cat statues come from a Polish children's book series set around the town, and the hole in the old tower was a prison cell, not a well. More than one viewer also admits to shouting at the screen as Steve climbed down a steep ladder facing forward.
Three days later came a gentler Sunday in Żywiec, renting e-bikes for the first time, riding out to the lake and ending with dinner on the town square. It is the newer of the two, and right now it is drawing views faster than the border town did.
The Route 666 bus from Hel to Kraków, posted a fortnight ago, is still collecting viewers too. Both new videos opened with well over 100,000 views on their first day, and the week added about 1,000 subscribers to a channel just under 400,000.

@fraeris68See it on YouTubeWhat a lovely day out! Each town has so many beautiful traditional buildings. One thing concerned me - when you came down the steep ladder from the top of the tower I was glad you didn't fall. I was shouting at the screen "Come down backwards!"

@patrickp.9589See it on YouTubeI have heard that Norwegians go to Sweden for cheap beer, Swedes go to Denmark, Danes go to Germany , Germans go to Poland, Poles go to Czechia, and the Czech of course just drink their beer since it is best. :)
