Beau Cram's 'fish gun' in West Australia keeps Surfline busy between uploads
His run on a 6'10" Chris Christenson board, posted in August, has passed 700,000 views while the surf forecaster's channel takes a breather.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Beau Cram running and gunning on his 6’10” Chris Christenson “fish gun” the other day in West Aus 🤯
Surfline posted nothing new this week, so its viewers went back to August, and to Western Australia in particular.
The clip doing the most work is Beau Cram "running and gunning" on a 6'10" Chris Christenson board the title calls a "fish gun". The name suggests the joke: a fish is normally short, wide and forgiving, and a gun is long, narrow and built for big, fast surf. Christenson, the California shaper, has spent decades building both, and here they meet in one board. Seven weeks on, the clip has passed 700,000 views and is still drawing more each day than anything else on the shelf.
The same stretch of coast supplies the third busiest video. Twenty-year-old Oliver Desforges takes on what the title calls "a very unruly Margaret River", the famous break in the state's southwest. Between the two West Australian clips sits a gentler one from September, a dolphin sharing the lineup under the title "That has to be a good omen for your session."
With no fresh uploads, the channel ran slower than usual, though it still picked up about a thousand new subscribers. Among sports channels of a similar size, TNT Sports Cycling and H.I.T GOLF had the big weeks, while Super Rugby Pacific, like Surfline, kept things calm.
