A Ronaldo who never retires, and a statement from Portugal's camp, for The Irish Guy

Three of the week's seven uploads were about Cristiano Ronaldo, from a sketch about an endless career to his exit from the Nations League squad.

If Ronaldo Never Retires

Cristiano Ronaldo was the subject of The Irish Guy's week, in comedy and in earnest.

The sketch came first in every sense. "If Ronaldo Never Retires" imagines the Manchester United, Real Madrid and Portugal great simply refusing to stop, and it drew about 160,000 views on its first day, well ahead of anything else the channel posted. The comments suggest how far the joke goes: viewers keep describing a zombie Ronaldo on the pitch who still steps up to take a penalty, and one line about him "not getting any warmer" is the bit people quote most.

The same day brought the serious version. "Cristiano Ronaldo's Statement Is Outrageous." walks through what the description calls his statement after storming out of Portugal's camp during the Nations League, chapter by chapter, from the document to an apology and a section on Roberto Martínez. Earlier in the week, "If A Man United Fan Is Ronaldo For A Day" joined a Liverpool fan's turn as Virgil van Dijk in the channel's day-swap series. And last week's "If Ronaldo Never Reaches 1000 Goals" is closing in on 1.6 million views.

Not everything was about one man. A Manchester City update weighs the club's appeal and even lays out the Juventus Serie B precedent.

About 4 million views over the week kept the channel close to its usual brisk pace, and roughly 2,000 new subscribers came along. Among football creators of a similar size, Side+ is running well above its normal level. Shea Woodsford and GUGUGAMER pulled in far bigger totals, but both were a little below their own usual pace.
