Wichita investigators are asking people who attended the soccer game at Stryker Sports Complex to share photographs and video after a pickup truck drove through the match on October 17.
In the press conference carried by USA TODAY, Captain Aaron Moses confirms that a child and an adult man died at the scene. Eleven other people were injured and taken to hospitals, police said.
The briefing also describes the help already underway when emergency crews arrived. Police, fire and EMS officials credit civilian bystanders with providing immediate aid. Fire Chief Michael Meir puts the responders' arrival plainly: "They didn't begin patient care; they continued patient care."
Beyond the immediate response, Malachi Winters of Sedgwick County COMCARE explains that the psychological effects can reach witnesses and others who were not physically injured. He outlines signs of trauma and available crisis and walk-in support. Mayor Lily Wu offers condolences, saying, "Tonight, Wichita grieves together."
The recording drew about 191,000 views in its first ten hours, already well beyond the channel's usual full-day audience for regular videos. It preserves the extended briefing, including reporters' questions and Moses's instructions for submitting evidence to investigators.
