ACES And His Opponents Are RAISING 😱 #poker #casino #pokerhands
The river can't help. Bill Gazes gets another ace on the final card, but by then his opponent's straight has already settled the hand.
World Poker Tour's latest fast-moving Short revisits a Foxwoods confrontation with a particularly cruel finish. It drew roughly 126,000 views in its first 12 hours, already far beyond the channel's usual full-day audience for Shorts.
Gazes starts with pocket aces, the best starting hand in Texas hold'em. Better still, his opponents are raising into him: Nick Schulman makes a substantial re-raise with a bluff, then Tony Licastro commits his stack holding king-ten of different suits.
Gazes pushes all-in over the top. Schulman gets out of the way, leaving the aces against a hand that needs considerable help.
That help arrives together: nine, queen, jack. Licastro has flopped a straight. He celebrates with the crowd while Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patten supply the astonishment from the commentary booth. The turn ends Gazes' remaining chance before the last ace adds an unnecessary sting.
The comments dwell on that final card, compare the hand with their own poker misfortunes and notice the composure required to offer a polite acknowledgment afterward. One running joke is familiar to anyone who's watched a risky play work out: apparently bad decisions get rewarded, just not when you're the one making them.

The numbers
The aces highlight has already cleared the channel's usual first-day Shorts audience. Its comment section is also much busier than a typical opening day.

Which of these poker hands beats three of a kind?
A straight ranks above three of a kind, which is why Gazes' final ace cannot beat Licastro's hand.
