Amelia Dimoldenberg wants to know how long you should leave something finished before bringing it back. Noel Gallagher's suggestion: sixteen years. For a Chicken Shop Date billed as part of the final series, an Oasis guest is a useful person to ask.

Their meeting at Sam's Chicken in Harlesden drew nearly 400,000 views in its first half-day, putting it on course for a first day well above Amelia's usual. The episode brings her deliberately uncomfortable dating routine into contact with a guest who is perfectly happy to supply his own deadpan answers.

Several viewers pick up on an unexpected effect: the two comic personas seem to cancel each other out, leaving something close to a normal conversation. Others single out the abrupt editing around a question about star signs, while requests for Liam Gallagher are already appearing.

There is plenty beyond reunion talk. Noel recalls coming home from a huge São Paulo concert and finding himself mediating an argument between his sons over Coco Pops. Paul McCartney, meanwhile, apparently has his own name for him: "He calls me Nolo."

When Amelia returns to Oasis, Noel says rehearsals made him confident the band's return would be better than ever. The rock-star stories also come with a smaller act of generosity: an admitted guitar hoarder, he recalls giving an instrument to a member of the tribute band Noasis.
