Hasan Piker says he can sue Ted Cruz. Asmongold does not think he would get far, and his new reaction video, "People have found the clip..", spends about twenty minutes explaining why.
The dispute starts on Fox News, where Cruz accuses Piker of insulting Black Americans and using a racial slur against them. On his own stream, Piker answers with outrage and demands a retraction. "Bro, yes, I can sue him for that," he says, and later: "This is at least grounds for a cease-and-desist." Asmongold, watching both, argues that a defamation case would fail. Around the seven-minute mark he points to where he sees Piker easing off the legal threats.
The clip of the title comes next. Piker's chat brings up an old The Young Turks video, and he dismisses it as fake. Asmongold finds it: a 2016 segment called "Justice Department Report on Baltimore Police EXPLAINED", in which Piker says the word while reading aloud from the report. That is a different situation from the one Cruz describes, and the video shows both. Asmongold meets the "fake" claim with sarcasm, joking that the network must have known a decade ago to upload an AI version. He then plays a separate clip in which Piker talks about having used the word casually in the past.
The Young Turks is where Piker built his early following, on the network co-founded by his uncle, Cenk Uygur, who is briefly pictured on screen here.
The video has drawn roughly 1.7 million views in its first 18 hours, one of the videos people watched most since yesterday. The same day brought a much less combative upload: Asmongold's session on the final day of the WoW Forever beta, back in the game his channel grew up on.
