David Mitchell's reboot grumbles anchor BBC Comedy's seven-upload week

The Unbelievable Truth clip brings Superman into the discussion, while Phil Wang and Susie Dent offer a different kind of invention.

Superman isn't exempt from David Mitchell's complaints about reboot culture. BBC Comedy's most watched new upload takes its subject from The Unbelievable Truth, the Radio 4 panel show Mitchell hosts, and has reached about 125,000 views.

Mitchell is a familiar face from Peep Show and Would I Lie to You?, but the comments here keep returning to another comedian: Celya AB. Several viewers single out her pointed question and its timing, while others bring up Mitchell's detective comedy Ludwig. It's a useful reminder that a rant can become a conversation once someone else gets a word in.

The official channel posted seven videos across the week. "The ultimate debrief - BBC" offers romance by pros-and-cons list in Colin from Accounts, the Australian comedy created by and starring Harriet Dyer and Patrick Brammall. Meanwhile, "Lowkey, just trust 🤝 - BBC Comedy" comes from Unspeakable, where Phil Wang and Susie Dent challenge guests to invent words. Rather than reviving familiar stories, that show's brief is to add something new to the dictionary.

Mitchell's clip is also drawing the largest daily audience among the channel's active videos, followed by Unspeakable and the silk-dressing-gown installment of The Comedy Circuit with Tom Allen.

BBC Comedy added subscribers over the week and gathered roughly 2.3 million views. Its current daily viewing is close to its usual level, unlike similarly sized NCIS, which is having a notably busier day than normal. That makes this less a sudden surge than a well-used comedy collection, with Mitchell's reboot objections providing its clearest new talking point.
