Slayyyter and Marvel robots share BBC Radio 1's week

Rachel Chinouriri brings a pop cover to the Live Lounge, while Ali Plumb gathers the VisionQuest cast.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Jenna Ortega's interview gets interrupted 😭Jenna Ortega's interview gets interrupted 😭

The microphones stayed busy. BBC Radio 1 posted thirteen uploads, moving between Live Lounge music, Marvel conversation and an assistant who briefly became the interview guest.

Rachel Chinouriri took on Slayyyter's "brand new chanel$" in the Live Lounge, adding another unexpected pairing to a format built around artists borrowing one another's songs. Elsewhere, Zara Larsson's "Blue Moon" performance from Big Weekend in Sunderland arrived on Friday and quickly became one of the channel's busiest videos by daily viewing.

The week's most-watched new upload, though, belonged to Jenna Ortega's assistant Lizzie. Her enthusiasm for Greg James brought her into the studio during Ortega's visit, and the short clip has reached roughly 318,000 views. The longer conversation gives Ortega and Amy Adams, appearing for Klara and the Sun, room to judge listeners' unpopular opinions about mint and whether shoes need backs.

Florence Pugh's East of Eden conversation with Chris Abbott and Mike Faist also kept drawing viewers. For a more mechanical ensemble, Ali Plumb assembled Paul Bettany, James Spader, Ruaridh Mollica, Emily Hampshire and creator Terry Matalas to discuss VisionQuest, including Ultron's return and the practical business of filming super speed.

Across the channel, weekly views topped seven million while the subscriber count held steady. Daily viewing is running above its usual level, as it is at nearby-sized COLORS. Radio 1's strongest current momentum comes from three very different studio and stage encounters: Ortega's interruption, Larsson's live song and Pugh's co-star conversation.
