Big Water Guy puts salmon eggs on the menu
His caviar-preparation Short has viewers swapping serving ideas and recalling fish eggs they grew up eating.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 249,668 views a day, 11 times a normal first day on this channel (22,159).
Preparing salmon caviar
Big Water Guy's salmon eggs are prompting a question that divides the tackle box from the dinner plate: bait, or something worth serving with rice?
"Preparing salmon caviar" reached about 182,000 views in its first 13 hours, already far beyond the audience his Shorts usually draw over a full first day. It follows another upload, "How I prepare fresh salmon eggs," making roe a recurring subject for the Washington-based catching, cooking and diving channel.
The comments bring their own menu. One viewer recalls growing up eating freshwater fish eggs fried in cornmeal, but knowing salmon eggs mainly as fishing bait. Another describes eating them with rice, ramen or bagels. Others compare sockeye roe with king salmon roe, or say the videos have encouraged them to try curing eggs themselves.
There is also a small naming debate. Traditional caviar comes from sturgeon, though salmon roe is commonly sold as salmon caviar. Here, that distinction sits alongside a more practical request: a viewer wants the next part. Big Water Guy's catch-and-cook subject has turned into a conversation about what else from the fish belongs on the plate.

What viewers say
I’ve eat fish eggs all my life from crappie, bass, bluegill and so on fried in cornmeal and they are pretty good groceries. Someday I’ll hopefully try caviar and maybe salmon or paddlefish eggs. I’ve always seen people fish with salmon eggs but you are the first I’ve seen eat em. Really want to try it now😂
