Taking a Break from Being Sick
Carl Barron's usual daily viewing has roughly tripled, and his biggest new upload turns a familiar excuse into an awkward contradiction: stepping outside for some air, then lighting a cigarette.
"Taking a Break from Being Sick" has reached about 200,000 views. Its description offers a breezy promise to get back to it shortly, while viewers discuss the irony of smoking outside a hospital. Some recall doing it themselves; others extend the observation to medical staff. The joke is less about a diagnosis than the strange little habits people carry into places meant to make them better.
Barron posted three videos altogether. "HA HA," introduced with a question about who laughs like that, drew a substantial audience too. "Hair - Carl Barron" had a much smaller start. The hospital-break clip is also his busiest video right now, followed by "HA HA" and the slightly older "Quoting Carl," whose description has Barron forgetting he's Carl Barron.
The channel added about 1,000 subscribers over the week. Nearby comedy channels had varied weeks: BenBankasComedy and Slice Comedy drew larger weekly audiences, while Jim Jefferies and Soho Theatre were quieter. For Barron, the most active corner of the catalog is currently the one labeled as a break.
