“I Think This Might Be a Genius Heckle” | Jimmy Carr

The word that trips Jimmy Carr up is "getaway." An audience member wants to ask about recovering from an awkward moment onstage, but Carr hears something closer to an escape plan.

"Is this an alibi for a crime that's currently taking place?" he asks.

Bobby clarifies: how does Carr recover when things go wrong during a show? By then, the question has created exactly the situation it describes. "The irony is killing me," Carr says, before delivering the line that gives the upload its title: "I think this might be a genius heckle."

The clip has drawn about 152,000 views in 21 hours, putting it well ahead of the usual start for Carr's regular videos. Its comment section is also several times busier than a typical first day.

Rather than a prepared one-liner, the exchange supplies Carr with a question he has to untangle in public. He asks Bobby's name, learns he is from Bulgaria and takes a detour through memories of performing there and drinking rakia. Carr also identifies his own accent impression as a generic Gru voice from Despicable Me.

Bobby eventually reveals that he works in construction. Viewers pick up that detail with Bob the Builder references and their own construction-themed escape jokes.
