LIVE: The Faith Hedgepeth Murder Trial - Day 3 | NC v. Miguel Salguero-Olivares
Marisol Rangel cried on the witness stand as she recalled finding her friend Faith Hedgepeth inside her apartment. In Court TV's companion clip of the testimony, Rangel described initially thinking Hedgepeth was unconscious, before learning she had died.
The channel's full day-three broadcast reached about 110,000 views in its first seven hours. That already puts it well beyond the usual first-day audience for Court TV's long videos and livestreams, even while the channel's overall daily views are below their usual pace.
Hedgepeth, a UNC-Chapel Hill student, was found dead in her off-campus apartment in September 2012. Court TV's coverage identifies Miguel Salguero-Olivares as the defendant, facing charges including first-degree murder, rape and burglary. The trial comes more than a decade after her death.
Alongside the full proceedings, Court TV posted shorter excerpts of the day's testimony. One features Dr. Lauren Scott, the associate chief medical examiner who performed the autopsy, explaining that Hedgepeth died from blunt-force trauma to the head.
