Highlighter orange fills Engineering Explained's electric-car gap

Jason Fenske's used Mustang Mach-E GT Performance is a temporary purchase while he waits for a Rivian R2.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Jason Fenske wanted something different, preferably in a color that would be difficult to miss. A highlighter yellow-green Genesis GV60 Performance sold the day he called about it. An orange Mustang Mach-E GT Performance became the alternative.

Engineering Explained posted nothing new this week, but its car-shopping story from just before it remains the channel's busiest upload right now. "Lucid Bought My Car Back, So I Bought A Mach-E" has reached roughly 708,000 views. Fenske says Lucid bought back his troublesome Air, then a loaned Gravity developed an intermittent window problem. He decided to try another brand while waiting for his Rivian R2.

The appeal wasn't just the paint. In the description, he says the used Mach-E cost almost exactly half its original sticker price. With this intended as a temporary car, depreciation was something to take advantage of rather than absorb from new.

Across the channel, the subscriber count stayed level and daily views are a little below their usual pace. Nearby in motoring, Jay Leno's Garage is enjoying a stronger-than-usual daily audience and added subscribers over the week.

Fenske's practical explainers also keep finding viewers. The Continental-sponsored "Are You Buying The Wrong Tires?" remains among his most active uploads, followed by his older engine-braking lesson. Between tire compounds, downshifts and a conspicuously orange used EV, the channel's questions remain grounded in what owning a car actually involves.
