The verdict is "buy." Mat Watson reaches it after twenty minutes with the updated BMW 7 Series, and he is not shy about the comparison the title promises: Mercedes fans who think the S-Class is better are pointed to his review of that car "to find out why it's not."
The title says the BMW "just DESTROYED" the Mercedes. The video itself is mostly about the 7 Series. Watson opens with BMW's own claim, "it's the biggest facelift they've ever done in their history," and the description calls it effectively a new generation. The front end grows a larger grille and crystal daytime lights. Inside, he says, "it feels like a whole new car": new dash, a new central screen, a display for the front passenger and BMW's Panoramic Display along the base of the windscreen.
The lighter moments come from the gadgets. Door controls now live on the touchscreen, and Watson uses them to shut his cameraman Miguel inside. "Sorry, Miguel." In the back, the relaxation seat reclines and pushes the front seat forward, and the drop-down theatre screen is now a touchscreen with YouTube built in. There is even a two-tone frosted paint option, which he says takes "3 days with 20 people working on it."
The car tested is the 740, a straight-six sending its power to the rear wheels. On California's roads Watson tries the hands-free lane changes of the Highway Assistant, then heads into the mountains, where he praises the balance and steering. His one warning is about money: these cars "suffer quite severe depreciation," which is why he points buyers toward a used one. The closing stretch also includes a sponsored segment.
The comments have their own running themes: jokes about how much value the car loses while the video plays, objections to electric doors and touchscreen controls, and a long argument over whether the new face beats the S-Class for looks. The film ends with a brief cutaway to Homelander from The Boys, watching Watson on a bank of monitors.
Three days later the channel posted its review of the new X5, which borrows the same screens. That BMW story has its own question in the title: whether it is still the best SUV in the world.

My baby sitter when I was like 6-7 yo had a 1987 E32 7 series in that classic BMW deep blue with those gorgeous mesh "bbs?" wheels and this car just feels so nostalgic for me, this is the first 7 series I've actually liked in a while.
