Mat Watson gives his "HONEST take" on the Jaguar Type 01, the Type 00 made real
The comment section filled about seven times faster than a usual carwow first day, much of it fixed on a giant car with a small cabin and no back window.
Why this story? The video drew 10,409 comments in its first day, 7.1 times a normal first day on this channel (1,468).
New Jaguar Type 01: My HONEST take…
Mat Watson has walked around the car Jaguar staked its reinvention on. The Type 01 is the production version of the Type 00, the pink-and-blue concept that Jaguar unveiled in Miami in December 2024 after its "Copy Nothing" rebrand and new logo. As the video's description notes, the road car stays remarkably close to the show car.
It is still enormous: 5.2 meters long, with a vast bonnet and 23-inch wheels as standard. It now has four doors instead of two, and a spine running the length of the cabin. There is a sound bar along the base of the windscreen and a spoiler that pops up at speed. Three electric motors make more than 1,000 horsepower, and the car weighs about 2.7 tonnes. One chapter is given over to what carwow calls the "Impossible Panel." There is no price yet, but the description expects it to cost more than £120,000.
The views were ordinary by carwow's standards. The comments were not. More than 10,000 arrived in the first day, roughly seven times the channel's usual pace. Many viewers can't get past how little room seems to be left inside, and in the back seats especially, for a car of that length. The missing rear window draws a steady run of jokes, and a few people say the sound bar would get in their way. The most liked joke asks Mat to blink twice if he needs help.
The back-window question was not new to the channel. A day earlier, Mat had reviewed the Polestar 5, which also does without one.

Is there a glass shortage I’m unaware of?
@tgoodrocketSee it on YouTubeFor a car that long to have that little room in the rear is absolutely diabolical.
@rezz6553See it on YouTubeI’m impressed they made such a tiny interior in a gigantic 3 ton “drivers” car.
