An electric Cayenne challenges Porsche's sports-car hierarchy on carwow

Yianni joins Mat Watson for an all-Porsche drag race, while a new RAV4 review asks harder questions about everyday value.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

The SUV brought more power. In carwow's most watched new upload, the electric Porsche Cayenne Turbo arrives with substantially more muscle, and substantially more weight, than the hybrid 911 Turbo S beside it.

That is a very Mat Watson proposition: take a family-shaped vehicle and ask what happens when it lines up against a sports-car benchmark. Yianni joins the Porsche outing, which has reached about 1.7 million views. The description puts the Cayenne's output above 1,100 horsepower, delivered through two electric motors, while the lighter 911 brings a twin-turbo flat-six with hybrid assistance.

Viewers are asking for finish-line trap speeds as well as elapsed times. Others remember when the 911 Turbo S seemed to be the fastest thing carwow could put on its runway. That contrast gives this race something beyond the usual launch spectacle: familiar expectations about what a Porsche SUV can do are up for revision.

Across seven uploads, though, outright speed was only half the story. "Has Toyota forgotten how to build cars? New RAV4 Review" examines a price increase, scratchy cabin plastics and whether the plug-in hybrid offers enough practical compensation. It is currently drawing more daily views than any other carwow upload, with the bike-against-supercars outing also busy.

The channel collected roughly 20 million views over seven days, the largest weekly total among the neighboring motoring channels with weekly totals available. Mat Armstrong and Westen Champlin also had substantial weeks. carwow's subscriber count stayed unchanged, while its daily viewing is now below a third of its usual pace. For the moment, the RAV4's everyday buying questions are doing more daily work than the Porsche fireworks.
