Victorian cucumber straighteners join Epic Gardening's tool shed
Jacques joins a tour of historical garden gadgets, from seed fiddles to gunpowder mole traps.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Pro Gardeners React To Ancient Gardening Tools
A cucumber straightener is a wonderfully specific answer to a gardening problem. In "Pro Gardeners React To Ancient Gardening Tools," Epic Gardening and Jacques from @jacquesinthegarden consider that Victorian invention alongside corn shellers, berry-picking cans and rather less gentle approaches to pest control. Despite the title, the lineup spans several historical eras.
That newest release is drawing the most daily views of any video on the channel right now. But the most-watched of the week's four uploads is a smaller-scale proposition: "I found a way to use tiny garlic cloves...," which has reached roughly 124,000 views.
Its comments turn into an impromptu kitchen exchange. Viewers suggest garlic greens chutney, kimchi and scrambled eggs; another describes blending the leaves with olive oil and salt for soups. One reader's solution for tiny cloves involves no garden at all: freeze them, then drop them into ramen.
The other new uploads test viral carrot-growing hacks and explore saving tomato seeds by letting them rot. Meanwhile, "The TRUTH About Filling Raised Garden Beds With Logs..." remains among the channel's busiest videos, having passed a million views. That earlier collaboration with Jacques tackles wood selection, settling, drainage and the mistakes that can complicate a seemingly economical bed-filling method.
Across the channel, daily viewing is close to its usual level, while the subscriber count stayed unchanged over the week. Nearby in the outdoors and gardening neighborhood, Shafikul Garden is seeing somewhat busier-than-usual daily viewing. Epic Gardening's own week offers a pleasing contrast: practical uses for the smallest cloves, and historical machinery for problems most gardeners might never have considered.

In India we make garlic greens chutney and it goes really well with fried foods and curries with rice or naan.

@hankthenewfieSee it on YouTubeThis is a great idea! I usually peel and throw all of the super tiny garlic cloves in a freezer bag, then I grab a spoon full of them as needed and toss them in my ramen. Since they are so small no need to chop and they soften so nicely in the broth as it's cooking, you can even mash them with the back of your spoon to release more flavour.
