Two engine codes give EricTheCarGuy a Honda head-scratcher
The CRV project brings an engine-comparison upload and a follow-up addressing why it needs a replacement.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
K24A vs K24A1
EricTheCarGuy put the CRV's engine question at the center of two of his three uploads, starting with "K24A vs K24A1." In the description, he calls the comparison a head-scratcher, then offers a tentative upside: he may have gotten what he wanted all along.
That was the week's most-watched new upload, reaching about 15,000 views. The comments make a suitably mechanical reading list: viewers discuss engine identification, suggest jobs to tackle while the engine is out, and ask for tips on choosing junkyard engines and transmissions. One longtime viewer recalls building enough confidence through Eric's videos and other research to tackle a Civic head-gasket job themselves.
"Why Does The CRV Need an Engine?" followed, addressing a question Eric says has been coming up repeatedly. He also says he's documenting the work for future, more detailed videos. Away from the Honda, "13 Years Ago Today 10/13/2026" marked the Fairmont becoming a teenager in his ownership story.
The channel added roughly 402,000 views over the week while its subscriber count held steady. Among nearby motoring channels, WD Detailing had a substantial week of views and subscriber growth, while Gas Monkey Garage's daily viewing is running above its usual level.
For Eric, the busiest upload remains "Fixing the SRS Light in the Used Car Experiment CRV," covering an internal SRS-unit failure on the 2006 Honda. The scan-tool buying guide is also drawing more daily views than any of this week's new posts. Eric spent months trying those tools, with companies supplying review samples: another practical garage question alongside the CRV's growing repair diary.

I've watched quite a few of your videos, I've owned 4 six gen civics, my first civic I paid to have a head gasket done and it sat at garage for almost a month in a half, my 3rd civic ended up needing a head gasket but after watching some of your videos and research I felt confident to do it myself thanks for the videos and knowledge 👍

@BenflippingfactzSee it on YouTubeWhere have I been? I thought everything was tickety-boo on the CRV, unless I'm confusing CRV with Pilot 1 or Pilot 2 or Odyssey or Fairmont or Legend...
